Candle making project for Valentine’s Day
Categories: Candle Making Projects
Here is a thought for Valentine’s Day. If you make some heart shaped candles in red they will be perfect for a romantic evening.
You could either make them in heart-shaped moulds or another technique is to place some non-stick baking paper in a cooking tray and pour your wax into it. Gently tap the tray and level out the wax. When the wax has cooled but not set use a heart-shaped metal cookie cutter and cut out the shapes. Push a wick up through the bottom and cut off.
These can then be used as floating candles or in little dishes on the table.
Metal Cookie Cutter Molds
Using the cookie cutter mold technique is a great way to let children make candles because they are working with wax that has already cooled so it will not burn them. The wax is still a little bit pliable at this stage so as long as they understand that, great.
They could then use dimensional glitter paint to dress up the candles if the want to. For example they could make a gingerbread candle and do the face and buttons with dimensional glitter.
Look at this link (http://tipnut.com/crock-pot-candles/) about making candles in a crock pot. Easy and no mess.
