wedding candlesFragrances are a personal choice, don’t you think?

There are many things to consider when you are choosing your fragrances and your choices would I am sure be motivated by a different reason if you are making candles for home or if you are making candles for a money making venture.   Votive candles are some of the most popular scented candles, whereas some of the fancy theme candles are not scented at all.

For Business

Matching color and scents

When you are making candles for your business the idea is to match the colors of the candles to the scent of the candle, or the other way around, whichever you think the most appropriate for your style.  If you have candles in the earthy tones it is quite likely you would choose a candle fragrance like sandlewood or similar, whereas if you are making a red candle you might choose strawberry or another fruity type scent.

How to rectify the dip in the top of your homemade candles

Set of Candles and pumpkin

One of the problems that candles makers have is the fact that the top of the candles form a dip when they set.  Here is how you can rectify that problem.

To prevent a dip in the top of your candles you will need to top up your candles (do a second pour) when your wax in the mold is cool to touch.  Heat the wax (making sure to give it a couple of minutes good stirring) to approximately 10 degrees hotter than your first pour, then top up your candles.  If you have left your candles to get cool enough the top should remain nice and flat.  But if you do a second pour when the original wax was still too warm the completed candle will have a nipple effect at the top.

Homemade candles make great Christmas gifts

ROMANTIC CANDLE

If you feel that you would like to make your own Christmas Presents then now is the time to look at candle making.  You can purchase Candle Making – Start with Confidence and very quickly learn to make votive candles.  They are so cheap to make but such an excellent present.

A set of votive candles would be a lovely present for someone.

What I like about votive candles from a user point of view is that they are small and you can have different perfumes burning each night and because they are small you can burn one through and then have another.

Also because they are small you can have different colors and set them up differently and the change in arrangement is nice too.

Candle Making – Start with Confidence takes you through the steps to making votive candles so it would be easy for you to learn and still have candles for Christmas presents.

Boxing up and trimming a set of votive candles for your friend or family member would be a lovely thought, especially when they know you have put the effort into making them.

How to make your own candles

wedding candles

Making your own candles can be so much fun, but it is one hobby that does need some forward planning.

There is a safety issue with candle making because of the fact that candles have a flash point at which time you could have a fire to deal with.

It is also a hobby where you need to be organised because for example, you don’t want to have everything ready to pour and realise that you have not prepared your molds or fixed your wicks in place.

Like any hobby there are successes and failures, but it is all a learning curve and one to be enjoyed.

Candles make great presents and with this in mind you can develop and create some wonderful pieces of art.
